Gifts from the Goddess

The companion to the 2017 biography The Goddess and the Guru, Gifts from the Goddess presents the essential teachings of Śrī Amṛtānanda Nātha Saraswatī, colloquially known as Guruji. Sri Amritananda Natha Saraswati (1934-2015), widely known as “Guruji,” was a top nuclear scientist managing missile defense projects in India. Beginning in the late 1970s, he experienced a series of dramatic spiritual visions that eventually led him to abandon his career and become a teacher and guru in Hinduism’s Goddess-centered Śrī Vidyā tradition. Upon discovering the remains of an ancient Goddess shrine in the jungles of eastern India in 1983, he revived and expanded it, opening it to the public as Devipuram in 1994. At the center of Gifts from the Goddess lie Guruji’s two largest works: his 1994 opus, Understanding Śrī Cakra Pūjā, and his stunning 1979 debut, Daśa Mahāvidyās (“The Ten Great Wisdom Goddesses”). Both pieces have been revisited and updated by Guruji, and are presented here for the first time in their entirety.
